Today we completed the first part of the film. we had to restart because we were not happy with it. Next week we will do the rest of the film.

if I went into space for 65 years and came back home after it would be scary life would be so different a lot of animals would be extincted I would feel strange and scared life would be different to what is was before I left their could have been horrible things that I never saw their could be no humans their could have been giant tsunamis caused from global warming or maybe people could have stoped global warming maybe the earth could be dry with no planed due to global warming their could have been wars their could have been natural disasters that I didn't know about new technology coud have been made their could be a tone of new things or not but one thinge for sure life world be difrent

quail island

Quail Island is in Charteris Bay in Canterbury across Lyttelton Harbour.  It is now a nature reserve for the protection of native animals, trees and plants.

The Maori first used Quail island as a place to gather food.  The Maori name for Quail Island is Otamahua which means "where children collect seabird eggs'.  When the settlers arrived it was then used for farming.  As more people arrived in New Zealand by ship people often arrived with sicknesses and Quail island was used to quarantine them until they were clear of sickness to live on the mainland.  It was also used as a leprosy colony, where people with Leprosy were isolated from others.  It was also used for training the animals and people before they completed expeditions to Antarctica.

This was part of our Kaitiakitanga kete where we are learning the importance of looking after our native birds, trees, animals and plants so that they are still around for future generations.  They are trying to do this on Quail Island.

The Department of Conservation and the Ecological Restoration Trust have worked hard to get rid of pests on the island and it is now nearly pest free.  They still have a problem with mice and deer.
Some native birds are now returning to the island due to the planting of more native trees.

I reslly enjoyed the trip out to Quail Island.  My favourite part was seeing the dog kennels.  The beach was my least favourite part because I got nipped by a crab.

1. here are 2 things I think I have achieved. 1 I listen to understand peoples ideas and opinions. I think I have achieved this because normally when we are doing things I listen to ideas to learn more stuff. 2. I think I use the Internet safely because I don't going on Face book and twitter and non work things on my chromebook.
here are the 2 things that I will work on 1. I am going to work on I am a curious learning I ask questhoins I think I have done a little bit of this because somtimes I ask questhoins to find out more informathoin. 2. I can use digital tools creatively. I want to work on this beacause I am not the best at creating things on my computer and I want to get better and be able to create lots of diffrent things so I will defaletly be working on this one.
